Pine

Pine trees are long-lived and sun-loving evergreens that do not grow well in the shade. They can reach a range of mature sizes depending on the species of the pine tree. They have large, woody pine cones that are favored by squirrels. Pine trees are by the far one of the most favored and considered the classic evergreen tree. Most pine trees prefer a neutral or acidic soil, but some will tolerate alkaline soils. Pine trees have long, full needles and can offer nice privacy or screening from neighbors or unsightly areas in the landscape. Plant these for a true "northwoods" look in the landscape.
